Percept Performs Testing for LeftHand Networks
Percept Technology Labs Tests Open iSCSI SAN from LeftHand Networks
Independent Test Lab Conducts Extensive Functionality and PerformanceTesting for Leading Storage Area Network Provider
Boulder, CO, – July 30, 2007 – Percept Technology Labs (www.percept.com), an established, independent product testing and consulting company, assisted with specialized testing of LeftHand Networks’ open iSCSI SAN to independently measure and verify product performance in key functional areas including: e-mail performance scalability; database performance scalability; streaming media performance scalability; device specific module for MPIO (Microsoft Multipath I/0); and usability and reliability.
According to director of sales, Gary Brooke, “At Percept, we’re committed to providing quality testing and consulting for today’s most complex and advanced data storage and ITE technologies. Our storage testing team offers extensive experience and proven methodologies to test today’s industry-leading storage technologies. The magnitude of the LeftHand project demonstrates the specialized capabilities of our staff and the capacity of our leading-edge Boulder lab space, where we are able to run huge amounts of equipment and network connections to test and prove storage networking capabilities at an enterprise level.”
The project tested the enterprise scalability of LeftHand’s iSCSI SAN based on the SAN/iQ® storage software platform and the HP ProLiant DL320s server. LeftHand leveraged Percept to test a large 30 node cluster and verified that the LeftHand system was capable of handling 50,000 Microsoft Exchange users. John Spiers, Founder/CTO at LeftHand Networks, comments, “We value the contribution of Percept Technology Labs in testing our SAN/IQ storage software platform, validating forusers our easy-to-deploy open iSCSI SAN with unprecedented scalability, high availability, reliability and performance. Independent testing is an important way to validate functionality and performance in an enterprise-level environment. Percept’s storage testing expertise enable them to test industry-leading technologies and provide unbiased results that prove exactly how well our products perform in a variety of configurations and operating conditions.”
Drawing from years of in-depth data storage testing expertise, Percept’s staff is able to handle the challenges and demands of testing all types of data storage devices and systems including tape drives and libraries, disk drives and arrays, SAN/NAS systems, and interfaces.
